Summary
Law No.3/93 is the investment law of Mozambique that was enacted in 1993. It provides the legal framework for investments in Mozambique, including foreign investments. The law guarantees the rights of investors and ensures the protection of their investments. It also establishes the conditions for the admission of foreign investments and regulates the procedures for the acquisition of assets and property by foreign investors. The law establishes the Mozambique Investment Promotion Centre (CPI), which is responsible for promoting and facilitating investments in the country. The CPI provides information to investors, assists with the establishment of new businesses, and provides support for the implementation of investment projects. This law requires companies to make certain disclosures as part of the investment process. Specifically, companies seeking investment permits must submit an investment proposal that includes information on the nature and scope of the investment, the proposed location, the amount of capital to be invested, and the estimated employment and production levels.
