Clean Power Plan, 2015

United States of America Stayed 2015

As proposed, the Clean Power Plan would require individual states to meet specific greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction standards. States would be able to implement a variety of strategies to meet emissions reduction targets. The Plan is focused on increasing generation efficiency of existing fossil fuel plants, substituting natural gas generation for coal powered generation, and substituting generation from emissions free renewable sources for fossil fuel powered generation. The Supreme Court ordered the EPA to halt enforcement in February 2016 resulting in the regulation being stayed likely until after the 2016 presidential election.
