Climate Change Act (GHG reporting), 2008

United Kingdom Current 2008

This Act was introduced to ensure that the UK accounts for all six Kyoto GHG emission groups under the climate convention (UNFCCC). In 2008 the Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change announced that the Act would mandate an 80% cut overall in six GHGs by 2050. Government exercises its powers under the 2006 Companies Act to require the inclusion of GHG reporting in a company’s Directors’ Report.
