Environment Law No. 2872 (1983), amended by Law No 5491, 2006

Turkey Current 2006

Turkey’s Enviornment Law addresses matters such as air pollution, water pollution, and waste management (e.g. batteries, tires, electric and electronic equipment). It requires regular reporting of  emission values (solid, liquid and air emissions and waste) to specified government agencies. Law No. 5491 amended the earlier Environmental Law No. 2872. It among others requires agencies, institutions and enterprises that may damage the environment due to their activities to prepare and publish Environmental Impact Assessment Reports.
