The Environmental Quality Act provides for the prevention, abatement and control of pollution through licensing, as well as the conservation of the environment. Specific regulations and orders are provided to address environmental impact assessment, pollutant emissions (e.g. dioxins and furans, halons, CFCs, lead, petrol and diesel), pollution of water resources via effluents, noise pollution and hazardous waste management. As confirmed by a 2012 amendment to the Act, the results of an environmental impact assessment or environmental audit shall be submitted as report to the government Director-Gereral of Environmental Quality. It also provides for the protection of informers (non-disclosure of the name of a witness unless otherwise required).
