Factories and Machinery Act, 1964

The Factories and Machinery Act (FMA) is not applicable broadly (i.e. the finance sector would be excluded), but relates to a limited group of industries such as manufacturing, mining, quarrying and construction industries. It includes provisions on safety, health and welfare of employees handling and working around machinery, persons in charge and competencies. It also sets requirements for the public notification of accidents and occurance of dangerous diseases.
