National Pollutant Inventory, 1998.

Australia Current 1998

The National Pollutant Inventory (NPI) requires industrial companies to report emissions and inventories for specific substances and fuel to regulatory authorities for inclusion in a public database. The Department of Sustainability, Environment, Water, Population and Communities (SEWPaC) is working in partnership with state and territory governments to improve the NPI. As a basis for the enhancements, the NPI has undertaken consultation with a diverse range of stakeholders from around Australia. Consultation will be ongoing and stakeholders will continue to be involved, for example through testing elements of the enhancements.
