Summary
This law establishes the rights, duties and responsibilities of individual and legal person within national territory to ensure an appropriate and environmental management of solid waste. In this sense, sectors such as health, environment and development are linked to achieve an integrated approach to waste management. Under this law, solid waste management companies (EPS-RS & EC-RS) and municipalities, the 'Operators', that directly provide solid waste management services must submit quarterly reports to specialized technical units in environmental health in the Ministry of Health, describing the system applied to the management of solid waste including characteristics of solid waste in terms of quantity, risks, operations and processes.
