Summary
Article 61 of Chapter 4 of the Labour Code of Sri Lanka requires all factory occupiers, managers or superintendents to report to the District Factory inspecting Engineer in cases of an accident that leads to loss of life of a person employed in the factory, disables them for more than three days, or makes them unconscious due to heat, exhaustion, electric shock or inhalation of fumes/gases. The report is to detail all particulars of the accident and should be delivered to the District Factory Inspecting Engineer as soon as possible. More broadly, Chapter 4 of the Labour Code of Sri Lanka sets out the requirements and expectations of employee health, safety and hygiene that must be met by all factories in Sri Lanka.
