Summary

The purpose of this law is to establish the general precepts that regulate the introduction, research, testing, development, handling, transportation, transit, storage, production, marketing, import, export, use and release into the environment, elimination and final disposal of living modified organisms and their derivatives; to guarantee, through biosafety, the safe use of modern biotechnology, helping to achieve an adequate level of protection for the use of living modified organisms and their derivatives and to prevent and control the adverse effects that they may cause on biodiversity, human health and the environment in general.
