Business and Human Rights Initiative

Mozambique Forthcoming 2017

It draws on the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights and other initiatives, such as the Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights in Extractive Industries.  The government has not yet adopted a National Plan. However, the initiative envisages the creation of such an instrument. A baseline study has already been conducted and the subsequent report recommended the formulation and approval of an Action Plan. The relevant steps, including the formulation of an Action Plan, will be taken now that the recently elected government has decided to go ahead with this initiative

More information

the Ministry of Industry and Commerce expressed interest in leading the process. One of the next steps includes a baseline assessment on extractives and security-the two issues in focus.
