The exploration licensee has to file annual reports to the Department for the Protection of the Environment. Permits can be revoked and operations suspended in case of non-compliance. The Mining law has been under review since 2012, however plans for reform have recently been stalled. Earlier in 2017 they stated that the amendments in the parliament are back on the table for discussions and the lower house approved the mining code on 12 December (awaiting full approval).
