The Environmental Management (Air Quality Standards) Regulations, 2007

Summary

These Regulations, made by the Minister of State responsible for the environment under sections 143, 144 and 230 of the Environmental Management Act, concern the prevention and control of air pollution and require the National Environmental Standards Committee to, among other things: prescribe criteria and procedure for measurement for air quality; (b) establish ambient air quality standards; (c) establish emission standard for various sources of air pollution. They also define enforcement powers of the National Environment Management Council, defines offences and provide for appeal against decisions of the decision of the Council, an Environmental Inspector or local Environment Management Officers to the Minister and appeal against the decision of the Minister with the Environmental Appeals Tribunal.
